چکیده
Model calculations of Langmuir monolayers: Pressure effects on tilting behavior of idealized amphiphiles" (1996). Model amphiphiles consisting of lines of Lennard-Jones ͑LJ͒ centers are investigated to determine the effect of pressure and molecular geometry on ground-state tilting behavior. Both the amphiphile length and the intramolecular distance between LJ centers is varied. The results give guidelines for understanding and controlling tilting behavior in monolayer films.

متن کاملLangmuir monolayer miscibility of perfluorocarboxylic acids with biomembrane constituents at the air-water interface.
Over the past two or three decades, Langmuir monolayers comprising various fluorinated amphiphiles such as perfluorinated, partially fluorinated, and fluorinated-hydrogenated hybrid molecules at the air-water interface, have been investigated to deepen the understanding of their characteristic phenomena and to explore the mutual interaction of these amphiphiles with biomembrane constituents. La...
متن کاملAmphiphiles at Interfaces: Simulation of Structure and Phase Behavior
Here we focus on model systems for amphiphilic membranes. After a brief general introduction, we present selected simulation results on monolayers, bilayers, and bilayer stacks. First, we discuss internal phase transitions in membranes and show that idealized models reproduce the generic phase behavior. Then we consider membrane fluctuations and membrane defects. The simulation data is compared...
متن کاملPhase Behaviour of Amphiphilic Monolayers: Theory and Simulation
Coarse grained models of monolayers of amphiphiles (Langmuir monolayers) have been studied theoretically and by computer simulations. We discuss some of the insights obtained with this approach, and present new simulation results which show that idealised models can successfully reproduce essential aspects of the generic phase behaviour of Langmuir monolayers.
متن کاملLangmuir-Blodgett Films of Supported Polyester Dendrimers
Amphiphiles with a dendritic structure are attractive materials as they combine the features of dendrimers with the self-assembling properties and interfacial behavior of water-air affinities. We have synthesized three generations of polyester dendrimers and studied their interfacial properties on the Langmuir films. The behavior obtained was, as a rule, the lowest generation dendrimers behavin...
